COVID-19 Summer Camp FAQ

Will summer camp happen in 2020?

We are sad that due to the COVID-19 restrictions we cannot hold camp at Circle Square Ranch Grand River this summer. Please check your inbox for an email that’s been sent to all families that have a camper registered for camp.

Please stay in contact and let us know how we can support you in this season. While we are deeply disappointed, we fully support our government and health care leaders in their ongoing efforts to protect those in our communities who are most vulnerable.

Family days at the Ranch

We are working on some ideas and plan to offer one day family experiences in July. Look for details on our website on June 22nd.

Will there be summer camp programs in 2021?

We believe summer camp will be needed more than ever  in the months and years ahead. Children have been inside, isolated from friends and missing all the various ways they usually gather.  Camp provides them with a place to be outdoors, among friends and leaders who will help them grow in social skills and personal and spiritual health.   Continue to check our website for Summer 2021 dates and rates!  We are praying and planning to welcome campers and summer staff back.

Can I come visit camp?

Currently our camp property is closed under the non-essential workplace emergency order.  Until we have further instructions from government, we ask that you not visit camp at this time.

I have registered for camp already and paid fees. Now what?

We are committed to refunding your full camp fees if that is most helpful to you. We do ask for your patience and consideration as we manage the impact of refunds on our cash flow. Camp fees cover 12 months of the work needed to run summer camp, so some of your fees have already been put to use. This is why we ask you to consider to the following options:

Donation: If you are able, your registration fees can be changed into a full or partial donation. This would be a significant help to us in this very difficult season.
Defer Balance: Camper fees that have already been paid through our registrations system can be applied to the 2021 season.
Full Refund: You may request a full refund of fees paid to date, and all cancellation fees will be waived.

How can I support camp through this difficult time?

Pray: We are so grateful for the community of people who pray for us regularly. Please pray that campers will find creative ways to enjoy nature and experience God this summer.

Make a Donation: Your gift of any amount will support our ministry during this difficult season and help us offset the tremendous losses incurred by the cancellation of spring and summer camp programs.  To donate, please click here.

Do you have any tips for helping my child cope with the disappointment about not going to camp?

Many campers dream about returning to summer camp all year long, so we know there will be sad conversations in many homes in the coming weeks. We feel the same sadness. Each child will have unique needs and will respond to the news differently, which is why it is so important to create space for those that need to grieve. Here are a few other suggestions:

– Take some time to reflect on the positive stories of summers past
– Talk about favourite activities and make a plan to recreate some at home.
– Cook a favourite camp meal together.
– Take some time to write a letter or email to a favourite camp counsellor or camp friend.

This is also a unique opportunity to talk about how the choices we are making in this season help us demonstrate love and care for everyone in our communities, especially those who are more vulnerable. That is part of what the camp experience is all about. Camp is a community of support and encouragement that rallies around each other to help everyone in the community thrive.

How can I stay connected to camp and my camp friends?

Visit our ‘Camp @ Home’ page. It’s full of ideas that will get kids outside and gives them a taste of camp! Throughout the summer, we’ll be creating camp activities, crafts, games, devotionals and even competitions for you to do with your family and share with other campers and staff.
